Ancient forests transformed into clay.
This artisan blend of Petrified Wood Clay is crafted from Sculpey III infused with fossilized timber fragments hand-foraged at Lake Ouachita, Arkansas. Each piece contains mineralized traces of trees that stood millions of years ago, preserved as stone and reborn as sculptural material.
Lake Ouachita lies within the Ouachita Mountains, a region where ancient seabeds and forests turned to stone under pressure and time. The petrified wood fragments bring earthy browns, subtle crystalline flecks, and the quiet permanence of prehistoric landscapes.
When fired, the clay reveals earthy browns, speckles, and subtle crystalline shifts—echoes of the geologic process that fossilized the forest.
Available in three formats:
- 2 oz block – a perfect sample for sculpting or collecting
- 8 oz block – for larger projects and extended use
- 2 oz Sunburst Clay + Mold Set – includes a reusable mold to shape the clay into a radial sunburst form, showcasing fragments in fired detail
