Tiffany the Sandstone Matron – Handcrafted Female Gargoyle – Clay & Quartz Sculpture – Inspired by Kurgan Stelae

$120.00

The Sandstone Matron carries the spirit of the Kurgan stelae, anthropomorphic stone figures once raised across the steppes of Eurasia. These stelae honored ancestors and guardians, their upright forms standing watch for millennia over the living and the dead. Female stelae, often marked by simple torsos and signs of femininity, embodied quiet strength and ancestral presence.

This gargoyle is modeled after a real Stelae in northwest Italy. This Stelae dates back to 3000 BCE and was likely carved by the Lunigiana people.

Hand-sculpted from clay and anchored into Ozark Quartz, Tiffany emerges from the earth with enduring presence. Her body below has fused into layers of stone and soil — the reward for her long and loyal guardianship of the land she protects.

• ~8” tall
• Materials: Clay & Ozark Quartz
• Unique hand-sculpted ancestral guardian

Frequently Asked Questions

Imperfections, Shipment, and Custom Pieces

All pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. Pieces may have small imperfections, dimples, and blemishes. I try to be sure blemishes are included in the item’s photographs. Please keep this in mind as you order.

Pottery is fragile, so I package my pots carefully to avoid any items breaking in shipment. Sometimes, this can mean a large amount of shipping material is used. Boxes, shrink wrap, shredded paper, and bubble wrap are recyclable. Packing peanuts are biodegradable. Please recycle/biodegrade if possible!

Custom pieces can take about 4 weeks to create. I avoid delays as much as possible, but the kiln can have a mind of its own. I’ll notify you immediately if I expect any delays in the production process.
