This guardian is modeled after the female Kurgan stelae of Eurasia—stone monuments raised as memorials to ancestors and protectors of the land. Such stelae, often carved with simple torsos and signs of femininity, stood for centuries as eternal watchers beside burial mounds and open steppes.
This gargoyle is modeled after the Hakkari Steles in Hakkari, Turkey. This Stelae dates back to 1500 BCE and was likely carved by shepherds of the Hubushkia people.
Hand-sculpted from clay and fused with Ozark Quartz, Debby rises upright from the earth, her torso peering above ground like the ancient stones she honors. Her body below has joined with soil and stone, embodying the reward of guardianship: to become one with the land she has protected for millennia.

Imperfections, Shipment, and Custom Pieces
All pieces are handmade and one-of-a-kind. Pieces may have small imperfections, dimples, and blemishes. I try to be sure blemishes are included in the item’s photographs. Please keep this in mind as you order.
Pottery is fragile, so I package my pots carefully to avoid any items breaking in shipment. Sometimes, this can mean a large amount of shipping material is used. Boxes, shrink wrap, shredded paper, and bubble wrap are recyclable. Packing peanuts are biodegradable. Please recycle/biodegrade if possible!
Custom pieces can take about 4 weeks to create. I avoid delays as much as possible, but the kiln can have a mind of its own. I’ll notify you immediately if I expect any delays in the production process.
