A subtle tribute to ancient voices carved in stone.
This 4×6-inch wall sculpture is hand‑crafted from clay infused with iron and manganese‑rich pigments, reflecting the dark desert varnish and warm sandstone of Colorado’s sunbaked canyons. Many petroglyphs across the region—including those at Mesa Verde and Dinosaur National Monument—were carved by chipping through that varnish to reveal the lighter rock beneath.
These timeless glyphs, created by Ancestral Puebloans, Fremont peoples, and other indigenous cultures between around 300 to 1300 CE, often feature humanlike figures, animals, and symbolic shapes—each a fragile dialogue between humans and the land.
Rendered with restraint and texture, this piece invites an ancient whisper into modern spaces—quiet, tactile, and enduring.
